Gardening and the Internet: Are you tapping into this resource?

The Garden Writers Association Foundation recently released the results of a survey about gardening and the Internet - the first of four surveys that they will conduct in 2007. Click here to see the announcement of the survey results.

The Foundation surveyed American gardeners to see if they were using the Internet, and the results were interesting (and useful!). Overall, 34.3% of identified gardeners indicated that they used the Internet for "research or product information."

Here's how the respondents broke down by region:

• Northeast: 38.4%
• Mid West: 29.8%
• South: 31.4%
• West: 40.0%

Not surprisingly, the numbers who use the Internet go up as the age goes down. Check out the ages of those who said that they do use the Internet:

• 18-24 (8.7% of respondents) 48.4%
• 25-44 (40.8% of respondents) 44.7%
• 45-64 (32.9% of respondents) 29.6%
• 65+ (16.7% of respondents) 11.3%
